Affiliate Marketing Tips (From The Start)
Are you having problems with getting web traffic to your affiliate promotion? Are you working in over drive, but recieving little results in return? Want to get targeted web traffic that buys? This article will reveal where you should start “before” you find an affiliate product to sell, and in doing so, it puts you on the right path for great web traffic and online business success.
The target audience
First identify who are the people you would like to sell to. Start on the basic premise of identifying potential customers before actually selling your product.
How To identify your audience
Lets say you want to sell information within the Body Building marketplace.
The first place to go would be “Google Awords; Keyword Tool” . Once you’re there, you type the keyword you’re interested in into the search box and then click “Get Keywords Ideas”. For this example it is “Body Building”. In the results you will see a long list of keywords within that niche, and the amount of searches (the demand) those words and phrases have a month.
You don’t need to only use Googles keyword tool for this, there are loads of free ones out there as well as paid. SEObook and wordtracker offer great details and features(note that the results found in these sites are by the day, not month).
Anyway. Scroll down the list until you find keywords that are A. Long-tail keywords B. High in search volume.
A Long-tail Keyword is…
A keyword phrace. For example: How to build muscle fast, Whats the best ways to build muscle, The best muscle building course, etc. Where as on the flip side, a short-tail keyword would be: Build muscle, muscle building, or muscle gain, etc.
Why use long-tail?
The 3 main reasons would be…
1) They help with search engine ranking
2) They lead to higher conversions
3) They target your buying audience (your customers).
Seach Engine ranking
With every keyword and phrace comes competition. Meaning, other online businesses are supplying (using) the same keyword as you. Now because long-tails are normally low in supply, this means less competition and higher search engine rankings.
Higher Conversions
Not all long-tail keywords offer great conversions, but they do have more success then the short-tail keywords. Why?..
Buying Audience
Which of the follow keywords are more likely to pull in the buyers? A. Muscle building or B. How to build muscle mass fast. The answer is “B”, but why?
A Is a broad niche keyword which could mean tons of things. For example: Muscle building supplements, Muscle building diet, Muscle building gym and so on.
B Targets individuals who are seeking specific information. They want to know “how to” build muscle mass fast, and people who search such keywords tend to buy.
High in search volume
When choosing a keyword you want to make sure the amount of people looking for xxxx is high enought to make atless 5 sales a week.
Lets go back to conversions for a moment. Most people convert between 1% too 20%. That is 1 sale too 20 sales per 100 visitors. Knowing this you want to have atless 40 or more visits a day. However, you don’t want it to be to high otherwise you’ll hit competition. Around 1250 too 3500 a month should do fine. Once you get better at online marketing this number will increase.
OK, the above is where to start with affiliate marketing. You first look at the marketplace. Choose a long-tail keyword that offer a high demand and low supply. All thats missing now is the product and/or service to sell.
This is easier… You can either use clickbank.com, or search the web for products that offer an affiliate programs that you can sign up to. What you’re looking for here is a product that matches the long-tail keyword you’ve chosen. For example: If your keyword was “How to build muscle”, then the product you should be looking for would be information on that topic.
