How to approach your target audience (Niche Market)

by Dan Murray on November 22nd, 2009

You now know how to find your target audience. The next step would be how to approach your targeted audience.

To figure out ways of attracting your (soon to be) customers attention and then presenting your product and/or service before them, is simple. I would even go as far of saying, its all pretty straight forward. You’ll have to do 1 or 2 hours of work of course, but in the end the money you’ll make will speaks for itself. And thats not to mention the time you will save long run.

So how is this all done?

OK. So you’ve chosen your niche market (your target audience). Now you need to find out what they want, you need to know their habits,  likes and dislikes. You need to know all for this before you build a website, squeeze page or blog. It just going makes your working life easier, and of course, brings in the money faster.

How do you do this?

There is are tons ways to do this. Today I’m only going to talk about one (the best 1).

Forums

Type in your niche market keyword in to your given search engine and add in forum after it. For example: Dog trainning forum. Choose a forum. The following is what to look out for:

  • Repeat topic’s. For example: How to stop your dog biting? how to stop your dog barking? Is this a bad training method? And so on. This help you find out what your niche market is having problems with.
  • Check for high repeats to forum post. For ezample: If you see a post on “how to stop your biting” and the repeats in answer to the post are high, then you know this is a topic that is on going, and people are interested in.
  • The same can be said about how many people have view the post. The number of views should always high than the post itself, and if it is, you know that people are searching for the answer to this post question.
  • Read through the post that tick all the above. Find out what words are used, what questions are asked, whats the answers, ask question yourself, find out all you can and make notes.

Once you have all the information you need, look for a product or service that fills the need of your niche market. Try Clickback.com, Paydot.com, type in keywords into a search engine with affiliate program after it. For ezaxmple: Dog trainning affiliate program or Dog trainning affiliate networks. etc.

Now you have an understanding of what your target audience is looking for and a product or service to fill that need. Now you can build a site around that niche.

So what have we learn today?

How to figure out ways of attracting the customers attention and presenting your product before them. We know this has to happen by knowing the target audience and their habits well. We do not first invest in constructing a website and then trying to figure out how to get the audience to visit the website. Know your audience well and then construct the site around them works best.

“The Internet will help achieve “friction free capitalism” by putting buyer and seller in direct contact and providing more information to both about each other”. Bill Gates

“I feel I’m able to serve my customer by knowing what she or he wants. One of the ways I’m able to do this is through my website, and email: people give me great ideas, tell me what they want, what they don’t want. It’s really instrumental, and helps me stay in touch with people”. Kathy Ireland

“The interesting thing is when we design and architect a server, we don’t design it for Windows or Linux, we design it for both. We don’t really care, as long as we’re selling the one the customer wants”. Michael Dell
