Know what’s hot and happening

A lot of success internet marketers do very well by keeping an interested in the in things (Whats Hot). Some of these marketers will only sell trends, rather than setting up a website about some favorite hobby they have, which isn’t going to appeal to everyone. They cultivate their interest in something that is hot and happening, and become a specialist in it.

But like all tends, they will will fade with time. Keep that in mind if you choose to walk this part.

Having say that, if you have a website or blog already that is focusing on a niche market, you may find trends within a sub-niches, or at less, one thats becoming a trend. If this is the case for you, jump on it! The amount of web traffic and sales you can gain from trends, well, its out of this world. Thats if you choose right, of course.

So how do you find trends?

The following are some tips that have help me over the years…

  • Know what you’re looking out for

A trend as you’ll already know is a niche, topic, or item that the general population are interested in. A trend will rise fast, but what goes up must come down. So what you’re looking for is something everyone is talking about. Plus, you want to try and get in on it on the rise, if you can.

  • Ways to find trends
  1. Search through new sites to find a common topic or theme. I’ve added some feeds of some the best news website here within the Whats the news page. However, I’ve keeped the feeds within my niche. So it maybe a good idea to search the web for news sites either on your niche, or general news.
  2. Search through magazines and newspapers. Look for the common topic or theme.
  3. Search through your niche forums. Look for that topic or theme
  4. Check social media website. What are people talking about?

You get the idea. Look in places where there are a large amount people, or website, newspapers, magazines, TV, etc, that have a large following.

  • Once you have a list of the most talked about topics, find the right keyword

Look for a long-tail keyword that targets the trend with the product or service you’re offering. At the same time, find the board niche keyword for the trend as well.

  • How to check the rise of a trend

Go to Google Trends and type in your long-tail keyword, add a comma, then add your board niche keyword. Click search trends. You’ll see from the result how quickly the trend is rising, what the key points have been talked about over the months and what Regions, Cities, or Languages the trend is best suited.
